These ten teams received up to $200,000 to continue developing their surgical training module prototypes.
In addition to the grant, the Challenge, a collaboration among Challenge Works, MIT Solve, Appropredia Foundation, and the Intuitive Foundation partnered with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) to establish a prestigious mentoring programme to provide guidance and mentoring to teams participating in the Challenge.

The Discovery Awards were initial grants to allow teams to develop and test their prototype surgical modules. Grantees will be expected to utilise their grant to develop an initial prototype and self-assessment framework. The Challenge’s Judging Panel selected the 10 teams to receive Discovery Awards.
